DirecTV keeps resetting itself!

Motherfucker!!! I’m sitting at home relaxing, watching television when DirecTV decides to reset itself. This has happened far too many times. And, it’s even worse when it resets itself two and three times in a row. Even if it happens once, it takes about five minutes. Just now, when it decided to reset itself THREE times, it took 14 minutes. Fucking bastards!
I searched online for the cause of this problem and this is what the stupid DirecTV site says:
If you see a message on your TV screen that says “Searching for satellite signal. Please stand by.” — it may be caused by one of the following situations:
* A signal isn’t getting from dish to receiver. This may be a cabling problem.
* Your dish isn’t picking up a signal.
* Your receiver is getting a signal but it isn’t processing the signal correctly.
* A severe storm has temporarily interfered with the signal.
Very informative. There wasn’t a freakin’ storm recently, so I guess the problem is just DirecTV. Bastards!
Before you send me angry comments asking why I just don’t switch providers, keep in mind that I don’t have a choice. DirecTV is the only provider in my area.
This happened to me too. I bit the bullet, wasted some time on the phone playing their tech support game and they finally gave up and replaced the receiver. (Why they can’t just do that at the customer request instead of wasting hours of time troubleshooting through multiple calls is beyond me.) Replacement receiver eventually did the same, got it switched out after doing the tech support song and dance again. I’m now on receiver #3 and now it’s starting to act up. It seems these things just have a short life before they just start acting wierd, it’s certainly nothing I’m doing, unless I’m just looking at em wrong or something. Great quality control you got there DTV. Fuck you.
