I came across a very interesting article about splogs. When I read the second sentence, in which the blogger attempted to defend splogging, I almost left the page. But, I decided to read what he could possibly say to justify splogging. He actually made a great point, though. I didn't even think about this until now, but I visit splogs everyday and they're splogs that I trust, that I continue to visit on a weekly basis.
But, there are many differences between the Blogspot splogs and the trusted splogs. The Blogspot splogs: 1-use hidden text and keywords, so that once you actually land on the site, there's nothing but ads and other malicious code, 2-don't provide links back to the original source, and 3-some even try to pass the content off as their own. WTF???
The trusted splogs, on the other hand, give credit to the original content writers. That's the main point. Giving credit! The trusted splogs also do not hide the fact that they are using other sites' contents.
So, I agree with the article. *sigh* I can't believe that I'm saying that. The fact is that we all visit "good" splogs on a regular basis. As long as the splog has permission to use the content that it displays, no harm done, right? But, is it even a splog at that point?
