So, I’m watching Judge Joe Brown and he starts telling these two African-American females that they both have kids and should be trying to get child support from the fathers.
How does he know that they’re not receiving financial support from the fathers in the first place? The defendant pointed that out-somewhat. She said of his comment, “That’s not fair.”
Then, when he wanted to know why, she replied, “I’m not a statistic.”
Of course, he tried to get his word in and said, “Maybe not from your perspective…”
She went on to explain that the father of her child died. For some reason, he wanted to know how old he was when he died and how he died. I guess he just can’t accept defeat or admit when he’s wrong. That’s not good when you’re a judge, by the way. He could only say that the man’s death was tragic and moved on to give his verdict.
I can’t believe that he made such a huge assumption about these two females. And, before you freak out, Judge Joe Brown is African-American. But, it’s still such a horrible thing to assume about someone. I’ve always been a Judge Joe Brown fan, so this was very disappointing. I can’t believe that they actually aired that part of the case.
For the record, I think that everyone is a statistic.
